I was involved in sculpting a 13 meter Southern right whale to be reproduced as five beached whale props in a German TV production. A giant fiberglass mold was taken and 5 whales where reproduced in fiberglass and urethane foam.
Once on the beach these sculptures caused much upset in the nearby towns
. Much care was taken in informing locals that these are film props.
An article even appeared in the local newspaper declaring our explanation as a cover up conspiracy for real whale beaching.
Red sky from a nearby mountain fire, the resulting smoke delayed filming for days.
